One Down revamping “Tabo Takes” to address crucial Fil-Am topics, and YOU can be casted in the Series

Los Angeles, CA - March 20, 2024 - If you’re Filipino American, you probably have come across the striking yellow graphic posts on Instagram calling out very specific aspects of being Filipino at least once on your Instagram timeline. One Down, one of the leading Filipino American media companies in the US, champions crucial, and often taboo, topics that intimately describe what it means to be Filipino, and one of their viral video formats to do this is – Tabo Takes!

"Tabo Takes" is One Down’s groundbreaking, original series where “opinionated” talents engage with taboo topics by selecting "hot takes" from a traditional Filipino item, the 'tabo,' commonly used in the bathroom. Participants then react and share their insights on these taboo topics, fostering empathy and understanding among viewers.

The pilot episode of Tabo Takes - all about Filipinos and bad money habits - featured prominent “financial hype woman” Berna Anat. The video surprisingly ended up blowing up on Facebook, garnering over 4 million views organically and launching an unexpected format for the company. Over the course of a few years, One Down continued to produce this series, gaining well over 10 million views across platforms for the series and featuring prominent celebrities such as Liza Soberano, Nadine Lustre, the cast of Drag Race PH, BJ Pascual, and even Korean Rock Band, The Rose.

The revamped format will tackle pressing issues surrounding identity, sexuality, dating, and so much more - aiming to shed light on misconceptions, struggles, and shame that originates from within the Filipino culture.
